The Inclusive Education policy has been in effect for more than a decade, facilitated by the Saath Saath centre, which has been an integral part of the school since 2006. Under the policy, students with Special Needs and Different Abilities are guided and encouraged to participate in daily and mainstream education through equal opportunity and support from the Saath Saath centre.
To provide students with equal opportunities, a comfortable, safe and collaborative learning environment is created and a team consisting of the Principal, Headmistress, Special Educators, Social Workers and Programme Coordinators are engaged in creating a supportive learning environment to facilitate a smooth Inclusive Education for students from the Saath Saath Centre.
The centre works at different levels to achieve Inclusion based on the specific needs of the child.
This is done through:
- An Individualised Education Plan
- Curriculum Modification
- Imparting Social Skills and ‘Growing Up’ support
- Classroom Intervention
- Parental Counselling
- Creating classroom strategies and instructions for teachers
- Regular follow-up with therapists
- Classroom Sensitization for peers
- Workshops for Parents and Teachers
- Group Activities
- Annual Excursions
